Cooperative Bank Board chairs strategic meeting to drive growth and reduce NPAs in Anantnag

SRINAGAR, JUNE 19: Commissioner Secretary Cooperative and Chairperson Anantnag Central Cooperative Bank Limited Yasha Mudgal chaired a high-level meeting of the Professional Board of Directors at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar to lay out a strategic plan for long-term growth and organizational enhancement.
The meeting, attended by board members and a representative from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, included a comprehensive financial briefing by Managing Director Muzaffar Sultan on business expansion, deposit mobilization, credit enlargement, digital banking implementation, and regulatory compliance for the 2025–26 fiscal.
Mudgal conducted an in-depth evaluation of the operational data recorded as of March 31, 2026, and instructed the management to drive substantial progress across all primary performance metrics to improve the institution’s overall financial health.During the meeting, Mudgal emphasized that reducing Non-Performing Assets to standard levels mandated by the Reserve Bank of India must remain the top priority to reinforce financial robustness and unlock essential regulatory clearances for future expansion.
To support the core mission of cooperative banking, the Chairperson directed the institution to broaden its engagement with farmers and rural populations through connected Primary Agricultural Credit Societies, noting that widening credit accessibility is vital to foster regional rural development.
She ordered swift actions to prevent new bad loan formations, strengthen the recovery of longstanding overdue accounts, optimize the Credit-Deposit Ratio, and substantially increase lending within Priority Sector Lending categories.
Additionally, she mandated strict adherence to Know Your Customer standards and the inclusion of valid nominations for all customer accounts to comply with RBI and NABARD directives, while the board deliberated on administrative agendas including human resource management, promotions, new recruitment drives, and governance modernization to elevate customer service quality.
