Srinagar,16th August :- In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Srinagar Police on Saturday attached a residential property worth ₹60 lakhs belonging to a notorious drug peddler under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The attached property, a single-storeyed house (Khasra No. 284/1) in Shah Mohalla, Ahmednagar, was acquired in 2018 by Mohammad Rafiq Patto, son of Ali Mohammad Patto. Investigations revealed that the property was purchased using proceeds from illegal drug trade.
The action was taken following FIR No. 16/2024 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Zakoora. Patto, a known drug peddler, has been actively involved in narcotics trafficking, exploiting local youth and endangering public health. Under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, the police formally seized the property, barring any sale or transfer without legal approval.
This move is part of Jammu & Kashmir Police’s intensified efforts to dismantle the financial networks of drug syndicates. Reiterating its zero-tolerance policy against drug-related crimes, the police urged citizens to cooperate by reporting any suspicious activities. “Public support is crucial in creating a drug-free society and safeguarding our youth,” the police stated. The seizure underscores the police’s commitment to combating narcotics and ensuring a safer future for the community. Authorities called for collective action to eradicate the drug menace from Srinagar.
