Udhampur 13 August :- In a spectacular display of patriotism and civic fervor, Udhampur saw the unfurling of a giant 62-foot Tiranga (Indian National Flag) at the busy Slathia Chowk, on the eve of the country’s 79th Independence Day celebrations. The gigantic flag, on 62 ft height with dimension of 10×15 feet in size, was hoisted with energetic involvement from local residents, depicting unity and pride. The venture, initiated by the Slathia community, converted the chowk into a pulsating centre of national fervor.
The day was celebrated with a special ceremony, attracting a large crowd of citizens, senior citizens, district administration, and police officers. The day was honoured in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, and DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Sarah Rizvi, who together hoisted the tricolor after the completion of traditional rituals. The attendance of leading administrative and security officials indicated the importance of the day, strengthening the sense of freedom and group responsibility.
The placement of the enormous flag not only intensified the patriotic mood but also was a visual representation of India’s fight for independence and democratic values. As Udhampur gears up for Independence Day, the giant Tiranga overlooking Slathia Chowk is a symbol of national pride, which should inspire citizens to pay tribute to the sacrifices of freedom fighters and rejoice in the country’s unity in diversity.
