Police Arrest Drug Peddler and Seize Heroin in Kathua Under Anti-Narcotics Campaign
KATHUA, August 09, 2026 — Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered approximately seven grams of a heroin-like substance during a routine patrol along the national highway near Lakhanpur.
The operation was carried out under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan campaign targeting drug trafficking in the region.Officers under the supervision of senior police leadership intercepted a motorcycle carrying registration number PB06BF-1564 during patrolling near the Lakhanpur area.
Upon questioning and subsequent search, the rider was identified as Mohd Makhan, a resident of Keerian Gandiyal in Kathua district. Police seized the contraband along with the vehicle and taken the suspect into custody.A case has been registered at Lakhanpur police station under the relevant sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and further investigation is currently underway.
