Udhampur Police Arrest Long-Evading Absconder Active for Over Three Years
UDHAMPUR, AUGUST 06, 2026 — Demonstrating a steadfast commitment to upholding law and order, a dedicated team from the Rehambal Police Station successfully apprehended a long-standing absconder who had been actively evading law enforcement for more than three years. The arrested individual has been identified as Dev Lal Bareth, son of Tej Ram Bareth and a resident of Tehsil Balpur, Chhattisgarh. Bareth was wanted by local authorities in connection with FIR No. 87/2020, registered at Police Station Rehambal under Sections 188 (disobedience to an order duly promulgated by a public servant) and 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) of the Indian Penal Code.
Having repeatedly ignored court summonses and continuously dodged judicial proceedings, Bareth was officially declared an absconder under Section 299 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). Following his continued non-appearance, formal arrest warrants were issued against him by the Court of the Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Udhampur, on June 17, 2023. Acting decisively on these judicial directives, the Rehambal police team tracked down and arrested the accused today. Law enforcement officials confirmed that Bareth will be presented before the competent court shortly for further legal action and formal proceedings.
