DC Anantnag Assures Full Administrative Support to Amarnath Yatris Injured in Bijbehara Road Accident
ANANTNAG, AUGUST 06, 2026 — Deputy Commissioner Anantnag and Yatra Officer for the Pahalgam Axis, Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, paid a visit to Associated Hospital, Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag on Thursday to inquire about the condition of pilgrims injured in a road accident at Bijbehara earlier in the day. Officials confirmed that four pilgrims sustained injuries in the incident and were immediately shifted to the hospital for medical care. Accompanying the Deputy Commissioner during the inspection were Tehsildar Anantnag, the Medical Superintendent, GMC Anantnag’s Nodal Officer for Amarnath Yatra 2026, alongside other senior district officials.
During the interaction with the injured pilgrims, the Deputy Commissioner inquired about their current recovery status and the quality of healthcare services being provided to them. He instructed the attending medical staff to ensure dedicated, top-tier medical attention for their swift recovery. Expressing deep sympathy for the affected families, Dr. Bhat prayed for their speedy wellness, advised them to remain in contact with local authorities, and reaffirmed the district administration’s full support throughout their medical treatment.
Beyond checking on the accident victims, the Deputy Commissioner evaluated overall patient care operations across the hospital, directing staff to deliver seamless services without causing inconvenience to patients or their attendants. He emphasized maintaining high standards of hygiene and aesthetic upkeep appropriate for a premier healthcare institution. During his inspection of registration counters and related facilities, Dr. Bhat instructed authorities to streamline operational processes. He also conducted an on-site review of a proposed area for new Outpatient Department (OPD) registration counters, directing engineers to draft practical Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) to maximize space utilization.
