Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visits Nunwan Base Camp to review Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra facilities

SRINAGAR, July 17 — Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the Nunwan base camp to inspect the facilities established for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrims.

During his visit, he chaired a high-level meeting with senior officials to review essential services including drinking water, electricity, telecom connectivity, accommodation, healthcare, emergency services, and security protocols.

He also inspected the registration counter to evaluate the ongoing registration process and directed all departments to operate in mission mode to ensure pilgrim welfare.The pilgrimage has progressed smoothly, with more than 3.50 lakh devotees performing darshan of Baba Bholenath within the first 15 days.

Expressing satisfaction with the enthusiasm of the devotees and the active participation of local residents, Manoj Sinha instructed officials to implement special cleanliness drives along both routes and camps to ensure a waste-free pilgrimage. He further mandated a 100 percent prepaid system for all paid services to maintain transparency and prevent overcharging, while requiring fire extinguishers in every tent.In anticipation of heavy rainfall forecasts, the administration and stakeholder agencies were directed to strengthen contingency plans and prioritize the safety of the pilgrims.

During interactions with media and devotees, Manoj Sinha noted that infrastructure expansions have resulted in positive feedback from pilgrims. He added that the pilgrimage continues to boost the local economy, with many visitors purchasing regional handlooms and handicrafts following the national appeal to support local products.
