Vidhi Kumar Birdi Appointed as CRPF Inspector General on Central Deputation
NEW DELHI, June 1, 2026: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India, has officially appointed senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Vidhi Kumar Birdi as Inspector General (IG) in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on a central deputation basis.
According to an official memorandum issued on June 1, 2026, by Sanjeev Kumar, Under Secretary to the Government of India, the competent authority approved Birdi’s appointment to the Level-14 pay matrix post against an existing vacancy under standard central deputation terms.
Birdi, a highly regarded officer from the 2003 AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory) cadre, has been ordered to be relieved from his current duties immediately by the concerned authorities so he can transition to his new assignment at the Centre.
Bringing a wealth of experience from several critical policing and high-profile administrative assignments throughout his career, Birdi’s leadership is expected to significantly strengthen the operational and administrative command of the CRPF, which stands as India’s largest paramilitary force.
