India and Kyrgyzstan strengthen strategic defence ties

BISHKEK, April 28, 2026:-Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a highly productive meeting with Kyrgyzstan’s Defence Minister Major General Mukambetov Ruslan Mustafaevich on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Defence Ministers’ gathering in Bishkek.

During the discussions, Singh emphasized that India and the Kyrgyz Republic are strategic partners united by shared values of democracy, development, and a rich cultural heritage.

The meeting highlighted that India attaches high priority to its evolving partnership with the Kyrgyz Republic.

While bilateral cooperation spans various sectors, the Defence Minister noted that defence collaboration remains a fundamental pillar of the relationship between the two nations.

Both leaders explored ways to further enhance mutual cooperation, reflecting the deep-rooted ties and historical connection between the two countries.

The engagement underscores India’s commitment to regional security and its ongoing efforts to build robust strategic alliances within the SCO framework.
