Command Hospital Lucknow Joins Historic Record-Breaking Hand Sanitization Drive to Honor Military Nursing Service Centenary

LUCKNOW, Feb 9, 2026 – As part of a massive Pan-Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) initiative, Command Hospital (Central Command) Lucknow organized a large-scale Hand Sanitization Exercise at Shivam Lawns.

This event served a dual purpose: reinforcing hygiene protocols and participating in a nationwide attempt to set a record for the Largest Hand Sanitization Exercise by Defence Personnel in collaboration with the Indian and Asia Books of Records.

The drive was held under the theme “Clean Hands, Safe Care, A Century of Nursing Excellence,” marking the prestigious 100th anniversary of the Military Nursing Service (MNS).The exercise saw the participation of 512 uniformed personnel and civilian staff from the Tri-Services, including doctors, nursing officers, and cadets.

Following the WHO-recommended six-step technique using alcohol-based hand rubs, the participants demonstrated a unified commitment to infection control and patient safety. Brigadier Vikas Srivastava, Deputy Commandant of Command Hospital (CC) Lucknow, emphasized that hand hygiene remains the cornerstone of modern healthcare delivery.

By blending a historic milestone with a record-breaking health initiative, the AFMS reaffirmed its legacy of professional excellence and its proactive approach to preventive medicine.
