CRPF has bolstered surveillance across NH 44 , Udhampur deploying K-9 sniffer dog squads and mobile Quick Reaction Teams Ahead of R Day
UDHAMPUR, January 15, 2026 – Following credible intelligence inputs regarding the presence of terrorists, a massive multi-agency security sweep has been launched across the Basantgarh, Ramnagar, and Majalta regions of Udhampur.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amod Ashok Nagpure confirmed that a high-intensity blanket of protection has been established, involving elite Indian Army para-commandos, Special Operations Group (SOG) commandos of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF Quick Action Teams (QATs).
These specialized units have been mobilized for continuous search operations that have now been active for over three weeks, specifically targeting high-altitude belts and dense forest areas where suspicious movements were reported.
In coordination with these mountain operations, security has been significantly tightened along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) ahead of the 2026 Republic Day celebrations.
The CRPF has bolstered surveillance across the critical 60-kilometer Udhampur stretch, deploying K-9 sniffer dog squads and mobile Quick Reaction Teams for round-the-clock patrolling.
SSP Nagpure emphasized that the security apparatus has been further strengthened with increased night patrols and stringent monitoring at highway checkpoints (nakas) to neutralize any threats and ensure the peaceful conduct of the upcoming national festivities.
