10th Armed Forces Veterans’ Day Celebrations Held in Rajouri to Honor Service and Sacrifice

RAJOURI, JANUARY 13, 2026 :- The 10th Veterans’ Day celebrations commenced in Rajouri today with deep patriotic fervor and respect, honoring the selfless service and sacrifices of the nation’s ex-servicemen.

The commemorative event brought together a large gathering of veterans, serving personnel, and local citizens to pay a collective tribute to India’s defenders.

Satish Sharma, Cabinet Minister of the J&K Government, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, emphasizing the government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and rehabilitation of the veteran community.

The proceedings opened with a welcome address by Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the veterans for their foundational role in nation-building.

A significant highlight of the day was the digital inauguration of the Veerangana Seva Kendra by the Cabinet Minister. This dedicated helpline is designed to provide timely assistance and support to Veer Naris.

To further support the community, a special felicitation ceremony recognized veterans for their exemplary post-retirement contributions, while assistive aids—including electric wheelchairs, mobile scooters, and e-rickshaws—were distributed to specially-abled and senior veterans to enhance their mobility and independence.

The event concluded with an informal interaction between dignitaries and veterans, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and the sharing of lived experiences.

In his closing remarks, Brigadier Pankaj Chib (Retd), Director of the Rajya Sainik Board, delivered the Vote of Thanks, reinforcing the timeless bond of brotherhood within the armed forces. The celebration served as a powerful reminder of the nation’s enduring gratitude toward those who have worn the uniform, ensuring their legacy of bravery continues to inspire future generations.
