J&K Terror Crackdown: Five Government Employees Sacked for Proscribed Links
JAMMU, JANUARY 13, 2026 :- In a major move to dismantle the internal support networks of extremist groups, the Jammu and Kashmir administration, led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, has terminated five government employees today for their alleged involvement in anti-national activities.
Invoking Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution of India—which empowers the government to dismiss personnel without a formal inquiry in the interest of national security—the administration removed a teacher, a laboratory technician, an assistant lineman, a forest field worker, and a health department driver from their services.
The dismissed individuals, identified as Mohd Ishfaq (Teacher), Tariq Ahmad Shah (Lab Technician), Bashir Ahmad Mir (Assistant Lineman), Farooq Ahmad Bhat (Forest Field Worker), and Mohd Yousf (Driver), were reportedly operating as Over Ground Workers (OGWs) for proscribed terror outfits, including Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen.
Investigations by intelligence agencies revealed that these employees leveraged their official positions to provide logistics, facilitate covert communication channels, and assist in the movement of terrorists within the Union Territory.
This latest action brings the total number of government employees dismissed for terror links to over 85 since 2020. Administration sources emphasized a “zero-tolerance” policy toward any staffer found undermining India’s sovereignty, signaling an intensified effort to “sanitize” government infrastructure.
While the move has been met with criticism from some political quarters calling for judicial oversight, the administration maintains that these steps are vital for maintaining peace and neutralizing the “ecosystem of terror” embedded within state institutions.
