KATHUA, JANUARY 02, 2026 — In a major exercise to test combat readiness and tactical response, Kathua Police joined forces with National Security Guard (NSG) commandos to conduct a high-intensity Anti-Fidayeen and hostage rescue mock drill at Police Stations Hiranagar and Rajbagh.
Under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, Mohita Sharma, the joint operation involved Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel and local police units.
The drill simulated real-world crisis scenarios, including neutralizing terrorists during a suicide attack and the specialized procedures required for the safe extraction of hostages. NSG experts provided hands-on demonstrations on modern combat tactics and the technical process of defusing Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in high-pressure environments.
The exercise, monitored closely by SP Operations Mukund Tibrewal and coordinated by SDPO Border Dheeraj Katoch along with DySP Ops Pushpa Rajput, focused on sharpening the agility and reaction time of the border police. Prior to the live drill, personnel were thoroughly briefed on the strategic use of dominating heights, the deployment of heavy firepower, and the effective functioning of early-warning alarm systems installed at police establishments.
The simulation concluded with a detailed debriefing session led by NSG officers, who evaluated the coordination between the central and state forces to ensure a seamless response to potential cross-border threats.
This collaborative drill underscores the unwavering commitment of the Kathua Police to maintaining a state of constant alertness. Officers were directed to remain fully equipped and ready for immediate deployment to counter any hostile activities targeting the district.
By integrating elite NSG tactics with local field knowledge, the Kathua Police aim to create a formidable defense against anti-national elements, ensuring the long-term safety and security of residents living in sensitive border regions.
