Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hails ₹1,430 Crore Central Aid for Jammu; Demands Immediate Relief for Private Property Losses

Jammu January 01, 2026 :-In a key meeting held at Chamber House, Arun Gupta, President of the Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCI), expressed deep appreciation to the Ministry of Home Affairs for the allocation of ₹1,430 crore to the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

This substantial financial package is specifically earmarked for the reconstruction and repair of public infrastructure decimated by recent cloudbursts, landslides, and flash floods, as well as for the implementation of critical disaster prevention measures across the affected districts of the Jammu region.

Gupta extended his gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, noting that their proactive efforts were instrumental in securing this vital financial assistance for the UT’s recovery.

While welcoming the funds for public infrastructure, the CCI President emphasized the urgent need for a secondary focus on individual and private relief. He noted that a central team has already concluded its assessment of the extensive damage caused to private residences, commercial properties, and vehicles.

With detailed loss reports already submitted by various NGOs, civil society members, and political parties, Gupta strongly urged the government to expedite the disbursement of compensation to affected families. He stressed that relief should be based on actual losses sustained by individuals and businesses to ensure a holistic recovery for the region’s economy and its citizens.
