Ganderbal Police Bust Terror Module: Two Terror Associates Arrested with Arms, Grenades, and ₹8.4 Lakh Cash

Ganderbal January 01, 2026:- In a significant counter-terrorism operation, the Ganderbal Police has dismantled a potential terror plot by arresting two terror associates during a late-evening operation near the Gundrehman Bridge.

Acting on precise intelligence, a joint team from Police Station Ganderbal and the Special Operations Group (SOG) established a high-security checkpoint (naka) and intercepted a load carrier with registration number JK15B-7309.

A meticulous search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a Chinese pistol, one magazine with four rounds, two live hand grenades, and a substantial sum of cash amounting to ₹8,40,500.The apprehended individuals have been identified as Ghulam Nabi Mir, son of Mohammad Subhan Mir and a resident of Hajin, Bandipora, and Shabnum Nazir, daughter of Nazir Ahmad Ganie and a resident of Shalabugh, Ganderbal. Following the recovery, authorities registered a formal case at Police Station Ganderbal under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Arms Act.

Preliminary findings suggest the recovered cash and weaponry were intended for subversive activities in the region. Investigators are now working to trace the financial trail, the source of the ammunition, and potential linkages to larger terror outfits. Ganderbal Police have reaffirmed their commitment to regional peace and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
