Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Visit Leh for Buddha Purnima and Development Review
LEH, April 26, 2026:-The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, announced via social media that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to arrive in Leh on April 30 for a two-day official visit. The visit is expected to focus on both the spiritual heritage of the region and the central government’s ongoing developmental agenda for the Union Territory.On May 1, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima, the Home Minister will pay his respects to the Holy Relics of Lord Buddha.
This visit marks the commencement of a sacred 14-day exposition being held in Ladakh from May 1 to May 14. During the event, the Home Minister is expected to share his perspectives on the spiritual significance of the relics and the cultural importance of the exposition to the local community and the nation.
Lieutenant Governor Saxena emphasized that the visit by the Home Minister underscores the Government of India’s firm commitment to the holistic development and progress of Ladakh. The trip is seen as a significant gesture of support for the region’s unique cultural identity and its strategic growth.
