UN Special Representative commends Indian Field Hospital for humanitarian services in Goma
GOMA, April 29, 2026:- James Christopher Swan, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of MONUSCO, visited the Indian Field Hospital Level-II Plus in Goma today to review its medical operations.
Accompanied by Deputy Special Representative Vivian van de Perre and Brigadier TKS Sekhon, the acting Deputy Force Commander, the delegation received a comprehensive briefing on the facility’s mandate and the specialized care it provides within the conflict-affected region.
The visit highlighted the critical role that international medical units play in maintaining the health and morale of both peacekeeping personnel and local populations.
During the inspection, the special representative praised the hospital staff for their exemplary medical and humanitarian contributions, noting the high standards of service maintained under challenging conditions.
He took the opportunity to interact directly with patients and medical professionals, acknowledging the professionalism of the Indian Armed Forces Medical Services.
