Special Train Approved from Jammu to Haridwar for Somvati Amavasya Pilgrims

JAMMU, June 9, 2026 — Union Minister Jitendra Singh announced that the Ministry of Railways has accepted the public demand to operate a special train service between Jammu and Haridwar to accommodate the upcoming rush of pilgrims.

Singh expressed his gratitude to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for the swift approval, noting that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, every major developmental and public demand from the region has been consistently met over the past 12 years.

The new train service is expected to bring major relief to travelers and devotees residing in Jammu, Kathua, and Hiranagar.The approval follows a formal request forwarded by Singh on June 3, 2026, which enclosed a representation submitted by Prem Nath Dogra, State Executive Member and In-Charge of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The initiative was specifically launched to facilitate smooth and comfortable travel for local pilgrims who are desirous of observing the sacred occasion of Somvati Amavasya at Haridwar.

According to the official schedule details detailed in the correspondence, the special outward train from Jammu to Haridwar is slated to run on June 14, 2026. The designated return journey from Haridwar back to Jammu will operate the following day on June 15, 2026, ensuring a seamless round-trip transit experience for the regional devotees.
