Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026: BRO Launches Critical Health and High-Altitude Safety Initiative for Track Personnel

SRINAGAR June 09,2026: In a proactive move ahead of the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) under Project Beacon has successfully conducted comprehensive medical check-ups and health awareness sessions for its personnel. The initiative targeted BRO workers and Casual Paid Labourers (CPLs) deployed along the challenging terrain from Chandanwari to MG Top, which sits at a daunting altitude of 14,200 feet. Given the extreme conditions of the pilgrimage route, ensuring the physical well-being of the workforce responsible for maintaining the track is vital for the smooth execution of the annual yatra.

The specialized health program focused heavily on mitigating the unique risks associated with working at extreme elevations. Medical teams conducted vital screenings and educated the workforce on preventing and managing high-altitude illnesses, cold injuries, and snow blindness. Additionally, the sessions emphasized occupational safety, personal hygiene, and emergency preparedness in rugged terrains. By equipping the ground teams with essential health knowledge and protective strategies, the BRO has significantly enhanced safety standards and operational readiness along the Amarnath Yatra route, ensuring the track remains secure and well-maintained for incoming pilgrims.
