Ramban Road Safety: MVD Conducts Major Traffic Enforcement Drive, Issues Fines Worth ₹1.5 Lakh
RAMBAN June 12,2026— In a major crackdown on traffic violations, the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) Ramban, acting on the directions of the Transport Commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir, launched an extensive enforcement drive across the Sangaldan, Gool, and Kalimasta areas to ensure strict compliance with road safety laws.
Executed under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan and in close coordination with the District Police led by SSP Arun Gupta, the operation saw the thorough inspection of more than 95 vehicles for adherence to the Motor Vehicles Act.
The intensive checking resulted in 20 vehicles being e-challaned for a wide range of offences—including driving without a valid license, riding without helmets, operating without insurance or valid permits, overloading, overcharging, and making unauthorized vehicle alterations—accumulating a total fine amount of ₹1,50,700.
Additionally, enforcement teams seized one vehicle and recommended three driving licenses for suspension due to severe safety breaches, prompting authorities to reiterate their warning that regular joint drives with the District Police will continue across Ramban to curb violations and safeguard commuters.
