Chief Minister Omar Abdullah distributes appointment letters to 132 junior engineers at SKICC

SRINAGAR, June 15: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah distributed appointment letters to 132 newly recruited Junior Engineers for the Public Works Department during an official function held at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre.

Addressing the new recruits and their families, the Chief Minister described the event as a significant milestone and urged the engineers to view their roles as a solemn responsibility toward the public rather than just a government job. He emphasized that public resources must be utilized judiciously and called for complete honesty, integrity, and professional commitment in discharging their duties to meet the high expectations of the citizens.

The Chief Minister highlighted the critical role that infrastructure plays in long-term regional development, stating that public assets like roads, bridges, and hospitals must be built to last for generations. He maintained that technical quality should never be compromised and encouraged the young professionals to establish their professional identity through durable, high-quality work.

Additionally, he advised the recruits to willingly serve in remote and underserved areas instead of seeking immediate transfers, ensuring that far-flung regions receive the same standard of infrastructure and connectivity as urban centers.

Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary also congratulated the appointees and reminded them of their vital responsibilities in project execution, quality testing, and monitoring developmental works within strict timelines.

Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, and Engineer-in-Chief Purshotam Kumar also spoke at the gathering, emphasizing the importance of engineering professionals in accelerating infrastructure growth across the Union Territory.
