Srinagar 13th August :- The intensive anti-terrorist campaign in the thick forest of Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir, is in its final stages after 13 days long Operation, said IGP Kashmir V.K Birdhi on Wednesday. Its need to be mentioned here that operation started on August 1 in the Akhal forest belt, two daring Army troopers have sacrificed their lives to the extreme, while nine others were left injured during intense battles. Security personnel also neutralized two terrorists, although their identities and groups are not known.
Inspector General of Police (Kashmir) V.K. Birdhi said that the operation was reaching its end while speaking on the side-lines of the Independence Day full dress rehearsal at Srinagar’s Bakshi Stadium. The Akhal operation has reached its last stages,” he said, indicating that the rest of the details would be informed in due course. This is the longest-gestating counter-terror operation in the Kashmir Valley in recent times.
While security arrangements for Independence Day are in full swing, with multi-tier deployments in Srinagar. “High-rise spotters, CAPFs, and layered security deployments have been put in place to make it a hassle-free and secure event,” IGP Birdhi added.
The nation remains indebted to the “gallant soldiers” who laid down their lives, while security forces continue their unwavering resolve to wipe out terrorism from the Valley.
