Udhampur, August 13, 2025 – On a proud demonstration of patriotism as well as humanitarianism, the Border Security Force (BSF) organized a mega blood donation camp under the name “Raktdaan – Mahadaan” at the BSF’s Subsidiary Training Centre (STC) in Udhampur. The drive, organized ahead of Independence Day, coincided with the Prime Minister’s Initiative ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Campaign and witnessed a tremendous response with 250 units of blood being donated to benefit patients in need. The camp was opened by Sandeep Chanana, Inspector General of BSF, who highlighted the philanthropic cause of blood donation and declared, “Donating blood is not an act of saving lives; it is also a reflection of our nation’s selfless service and sacrifice.” Senior medical staff from Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu with modern facilities and ambulances provided a smooth and hygienic blood collection process during the day.
The event saw active participation from BSF personnel, with Deputy Inspector General (Medical) Dr. Amit Butola, Dr. Savita Butola, Commandant (Training) Hemant Kochhar, as well as officers and jawans of ranks. All the donors made contributions to the life-saving drive, with organizers bringing to light that a unit of blood can save three lives—thus the camp collection could help hundreds of critical care patients. The camp underscored blood donation’s significance while respecting Independence Day’s spirit. The campaign not only enhanced security forces’ and civilians’ bond but also acted as a reminder of civic responsibility toward society.
The “Raktdaan – Mahadaan” camp ended with a sense of pride and fulfilment, leaving the participants with a strong feeling of contribution to the nation as well as to mankind.
