Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Reviews Alignment for Key Infrastructure Projects, Including Parimpora–Dalgate Flyover and Srinagar Ring Road
SRINAGAR, JULY 30 — Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, chaired a high-level meeting of key stakeholder departments to evaluate the alignment, feasibility, and execution of major road infrastructure projects designed to ease traffic congestion across the region. The comprehensive review focused on critical developments, including the proposed Parimpora–Dalgate Flyover, the Panthachowk–Pandrethan Flyover, and the Srinagar Ring Road stretch extending from Panthachowk to Pandach. The meeting brought together top officials from administrative, municipal, defense, and infrastructure development agencies—including the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, NHAI, Air Force, BSF, SMC, SDA, and Traffic Police—to ensure a coordinated approach to the city’s expanding transit requirements.
During the session, participants held threadbare deliberations on the proposed Parimpora–Dalgate Flyover, assessing its projected costs, traffic impact, and potential disruptions to existing urban utilities. To ensure a thorough evaluation, it was decided to constitute a specialized committee of stakeholder officers to submit comprehensive recommendations. Additionally, officials cleared the path to move forward with the execution of the two-part Panthachowk–Pandrethan Flyover. Addressing the Panthachowk–Pandach section of the Srinagar Ring Road, the Divisional Commissioner directed the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to conduct fresh comparative studies on proposed alignments to minimize the impact on residential areas and determine the most suitable route.
The meeting also addressed the proposed road connecting Ring Road Part-I to Airport Road via Sheikhpora, specifically evaluating its impact on nearby BSF security establishments. To resolve strategic and operational concerns without delaying development, Divisional Commissioner Garg instructed representatives from the Air Force, BSF, and the executing agency to conduct joint consultations. This directive aims to forge a feasible, security-compliant solution that balances defense requirements with the timely implementation of Kashmir’s vital infrastructure expansion.
