Preparations Underway for Independence Day in Jammu

JAMMU, July 30 — Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Minhas chaired a meeting today to review arrangements for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations across the district.During the meeting, Rakesh Minhas reviewed the preparations at the main venue and directed the concerned departments to expedite all necessary work to ensure the site is ready well in advance.

He also instructed officials to arrange for proper illumination and decoration of government buildings and key locations throughout the region.The functioning of various committees established to oversee different aspects of the event was also evaluated. Committee heads were told to work in close coordination and complete all assigned tasks within fixed deadlines, particularly regarding seating arrangements, cultural events, and logistical support.

To ensure smooth conduct, the police and civil administration were asked to manage security, crowd control, and barricading at the venue. Jammu Municipal Corporation received instructions to maintain cleanliness around the site and arrange for safe drinking water along with mobile toilets, while officials were tasked with organizing refreshments for participants.

Senior officials attending the meeting included ADC Vidhu Shekhar, SSP Jammu Joginder Singh, Chief Planning Officer Ajaypal Singh, ASP Traffic Jammu City Arvinder Singh, and representatives from several line departments.
