Baramulla administration conducts extensive anti polythene drive near Government Medical College
BARAMULLA, MAY 4: A joint team of senior officials led an intensive anti-polythene drive today to establish a polythene-free zone around Government Medical College Baramulla.
The operation was headed by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Arshad Ahmad Khan and included the Principal of GMC Baramulla, the Chief Medical Officer, and the Medical Superintendent of the Associated Hospital, supported by members of the civil administration and police.
The team focused their efforts on inspection and regulatory enforcement in the immediate vicinity of the medical institution to improve hygiene and environmental standards.During the drive, officials inspected various commercial establishments with a particular emphasis on medical shops and pharmacies operating near the hospital.
Shopkeepers were warned against the use of banned plastic materials and were encouraged to switch to eco-friendly alternatives to protect the local environment.
The officers emphasized that strict compliance with government environmental regulations is mandatory and that future inspections will be carried out regularly.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure a clean, safe, and sustainable atmosphere for patients and the general public visiting the medical college.
