Amritsar Police Bust Cross Border Drug and Arms Smuggling Network
AMRITSAR, April 30, 2026:- The Amritsar Commissionerate Police achieved a significant breakthrough by dismantling a cross-border module involved in the smuggling of narcotics and illegal weapons.
During the operation, security forces arrested two individuals and seized a substantial cache, including 4.108 kg of heroin, four sophisticated pistols, and five live cartridges.
The action is part of an ongoing crackdown against organized crime and the influx of contraband into the region.Initial investigations conducted by the police indicate that the suspects were maintaining active communication with Pakistan-based smugglers via various social media platforms.
These digital channels were allegedly used to coordinate the delivery of drug and weapon consignments intended for distribution throughout Punjab.
Authorities are currently examining mobile records and digital footprints to further understand the logistics of these cross-border transactions.
A formal case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and the Arms Act at the Cantonment Police Station in Amritsar.
Police officials stated that the investigation is now focused on identifying the broader network, including forward and backward linkages, to track down additional associates.
The Punjab Police reaffirmed their zero-tolerance stance toward drugs and organized crime, emphasizing that operations will continue until the entire supply chain is neutralized.
