Amritsar Counter Intelligence Busts Major Narcotics Network with Six Kilograms of Heroin

AMRITSAR, April 30, 2026:-Counter Intelligence Amritsar successfully dismantled a narcotics smuggling operation following a swift enforcement action based on specific intelligence.

During the operation conducted near Adda Manawala on the Amritsar–Jalandhar highway, security officials apprehended one suspect and recovered 6 kg of heroin.

The seizure represents a major blow to the regional drug supply chain as authorities continue to intensify surveillance along key transport corridors.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused was operating under the instructions of a handler based in Dubai, UAE.

The handler, identified as Antarpreet Singh of Sultanwind, is reportedly involved in large-scale narcotics trafficking and is already named in multiple criminal cases. Police are currently analyzing communication logs to determine how the smuggling logistics were managed from abroad and how the contraband entered the local market.

A formal First Information Report has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act to facilitate a deeper probe into the syndicate.

Investigators are working to uncover the full extent of the network, including local distributors and financial backers linked to the Dubai-based operative.

The Punjab Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining a drug-free state by aggressively targeting both local peddlers and international traffickers.
