Udhampur Police Arrest Three Drug Peddlers and Seize Heroin in Rehambal

UDHAMPUR, APRIL 29, 2026:- In a significant move under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, the Udhampur Police have arrested three drug peddlers in two separate operations conducted by the Rehambal Police Station.

During a routine traffic check at Garnai Chowk on the National Highway, officers intercepted a vehicle traveling toward Jammu and apprehended Abhishek Gupta and Ishan Khajuria.

Upon conducting a personal search of the suspects, police recovered 6.75 grams of heroin. A formal case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and a thorough investigation is currently underway to trace the broader links of this drug syndicate.

In a second successful operation during a routine patrol, the Rehambal police team apprehended Dheeraj Sharma, a resident of Jib, Udhampur.

A search led to the recovery of an additional 2.54 grams of heroin from his possession, resulting in a second FIR under the NDPS Act. These arrests are part of an intensified 100-day campaign aimed at eradicating the drug menace in the region.

Udhampur Police reiterated their commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against substance abuse, combining strict enforcement with community awareness to protect the local youth from falling into the trap of addiction.
