Jammu and Kashmir Weather Update Light Rain Forecast and Heat Wave Advisory Issued
Srinagar, April 24, 2026 — The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a fresh weather forecast for Jammu and Kashmir, indicating a mix of light rain and intense heat across different regions over the coming week. On April 24 and 25, the region is expected to experience partly to generally cloudy skies with light rain or thundershowers at scattered locations, accompanied by gusty winds during the afternoon and evening.
This trend of brief spells of light rain and thundershowers is predicted to persist intermittently through May 2, particularly during the late afternoon hours. In light of this, authorities have advised farmers to suspend all agricultural operations on April 24 and 25 to avoid potential damage or disruption caused by the changing weather.
While some areas prepare for rain, the districts of Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Reasi, and Udhampur are expected to face hot and dry conditions over the next four days. Isolated places in these districts may experience heat wave conditions today, April 24.
Residents in these warmer belts are advised to avoid direct heat exposure during peak hours and maintain proper hydration by consuming sufficient fluids, ORS, or traditional drinks like Lassi.
For the period between April 26 and April 30, the weather is expected to remain generally dry with only brief, localized rain showers, though cloud cover will continue to be a regular feature across the Union Territory.
