JAMMU, APRIL 22, 2026:- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha officially inaugurated a new industrial unit of Eveready Industries India Limited in Samba today, marking a significant milestone in the industrial landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
Established with an investment of 200 crore, this state-of-the-art greenfield facility is expected to generate approximately 500 direct and indirect employment opportunities while fostering the growth of local ancillary units and service providers.
During the ceremony, Manoj Sinha emphasized that the plant’s inauguration reflects the sustained efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to transform the Union Territory into a prosperous region. He noted that the ongoing industrial revolution across Samba, Kathua, and Jammu serves as a powerful medium of transformation, moving beyond mere economic figures to create a new era of progress and skill development, particularly for women and youth.
The Lieutenant Governor shared impressive data highlighting the region’s industrial surge since the New Industrial Policy was launched in 2021. In the 2025-26 financial year alone, Jammu and Kashmir attracted investments totaling 5,824 crore, a thirteenfold increase compared to the average recorded prior to 2021.

Manoj Sinha remarked that while neighboring entities may focus on instability, India remains committed to building factories of success and nation-building, reinforcing the economic potential and industrial energy of the region.Eveready’s new facility is designed to cater to the rising demand for high-performance power solutions, boasting a peak annual production capacity of 360 million alkaline batteries.
Mohit Burman, Non-Executive Director of Eveready Industries, stated that the plant aims to contribute significantly to the vision of a self-reliant India. The event also served as a moment of reflection, as the Lieutenant Governor paid homage to the civilians martyred in the Pahalgam terrorist attack a year ago, asserting that the inauguration is a declaration of India’s unwavering march toward development.
The ceremony was attended by key company executives, including Arjun Lamba and Anirban Banerjee, along with senior government officials such as Commissioner Secretary Vikramjit Singh and Deputy Commissioner Ayushi Sudan.
