NIA Attaches Properties of Jaish-e-Mohammed Operative in 2017 Lethpora CRPF Attack Case

New Delhi, April 22, 2026:- The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday took a significant step toward dismantling terror networks in Jammu and Kashmir by attaching several properties belonging to a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) operative.

The action is linked to the 2017 Fidayeen attack on a CRPF camp in Lethpora, an incident that resulted in the deaths of five paramilitary personnel and left three others seriously injured.

The attachment was carried out under Section 33 (1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, following recent orders issued by the NIA Special Court in Jammu.

The attached immovable properties consist of multiple land parcels and residential premises located in Lethpora, within the Awantipora police station area of Pulwama district.

According to the agency, these assets were deemed to be proceeds of terrorism. They belonged to the accused, Fayaz Ahmed Magray, a resident of Lethpora who was arrested in February 2019.

The NIA had previously charged Magray in August 2019 under various sections of the Ranbir Penal Code and the UA(P) Act, and his trial is currently ongoing.

Investigations revealed that the 2017 attack was carried out on the night of December 30 by three terrorists armed with sophisticated weapons and explosives.

While the attackers were killed in retaliatory action during the encounter, the NIA identified Magray as an active Over Ground Worker (OGW) for JeM in South Kashmir.

Magray is alleged to have participated in planning meetings, conducted reconnaissance of the CRPF camp, and assisted in the logistics of the attack, including arranging weapons for other operatives who were later killed in separate encounters with security forces.
