Punjab Police Arrest Six in PS Bhindi Saida Grenade Attack Case; ISI-Backed Terror Module Neutralized

AMRITSAR, April 13, 2026 — In a significant boost to regional security, the Amritsar Rural Police, in collaboration with the Faridkot Police, has successfully solved the grenade attack case involving the Bhindi Saida Police Station. This joint operation led to the arrest of six individuals and the recovery of two pistols used by the operatives.

Preliminary findings indicate that the module was backed by Pakistan’s Intelligence Agency (ISI), with the accused maintaining direct contact with a foreign-based handler who coordinated terror activities within Punjab.

The investigation revealed that the incident took place during the intervening night of March 29–30, 2026, after the suspects retrieved hand grenades and conducted detailed reconnaissance of the target. Motivated by radicalization and the promise of significant financial incentives, the group was specifically tasked with targeting police establishments to incite fear.

Following the arrests, an FIR has been registered under the Explosive Substances Act, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the Arms Act.

Law enforcement agencies are currently conducting further inquiries to trace all forward and backward linkages, aiming to completely dismantle the remaining network and maintain lasting peace and harmony across the state.
