BSF Punjab Hosts Strategic Workshop in Amritsar to Combat Evolving Drone Threats on National Security
AMRITSAR, April 10, 2026— In a proactive move to fortify India’s borders against modern technological challenges, the Border Security Force (BSF) Punjab Frontier hosted a high-level strategic workshop in Amritsar titled “Evolving Role of Drones in Contemporary Warfare, Border Management, and National Security.”
The intensive session brought together a powerful coalition of senior leadership from the Indian Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), State Police, and key central intelligence agencies. This collaborative platform served as a critical think-tank to analyze the escalating use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) by adversarial elements and to devise robust, multi-layered countermeasures to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty.
The deliberations centered on the dual-threat nature of drones, specifically their increasing role in cross-border smuggling of narcotics and weapons, as well as unauthorized aerial surveillance. Experts at the workshop underscored the urgent necessity for deploying cutting-edge detection systems, enhancing drone forensic capabilities to trace flight origins, and fostering seamless, real-time coordination between different security wings.
By reinforcing a unified operational front, the BSF and its partner agencies have signaled a relentless commitment to staying ahead of the technological curve, ensuring that India’s border management remains impenetrable in the face of rapidly evolving aerial threats.
