Udhampur East: Pawan Khajuria Urges Immediate Action on Electricity, Water, and Rehabilitation Crisis in Panchayat Babey

MAJALTA/UDHAMPUR , APR 5: Senior leader Pawan Khajuria convened a high-level meeting with prominent residents of Panchayat Babey in Tehsil Majalta to address the mounting civic grievances within the Udhampur East Assembly constituency.

During the interaction, local villagers highlighted a severe breakdown in essential services, reporting that erratic power supplies often leave the area in darkness for days, while a critical shortage of clean drinking water forces residents to travel long distances to meet basic needs.

As the farthest village in the constituency, the community expressed deep resentment over years of systemic neglect, questioning the administration’s commitment to providing them with the fundamental rights enjoyed by other citizens.

The meeting also brought to light the harrowing plight of families displaced by last year’s natural disasters. Residents revealed that despite government promises of five marla of land and housing assistance for those whose homes were destroyed by heavy rains, many victims remain stranded in temporary tents without adequate relief.

Khajuria strongly criticized the administrative delay in rehabilitation, demanding that the government immediately fulfill its housing commitments to restore dignity to the affected families.

Assuring the gathering of his full support, he pledged to escalate these issues to the highest departmental authorities to ensure that the long-ignored infrastructure and resettlement needs of Panchayat Babey are prioritized.

A large number of senior leaders and local representatives were present to support the cause, including Bhuri Singh, Bishan Das, Jagdish Kumar, Attar Singh, Captain Gopal Singh, Beli Ram, Girdhari Singh, Manjeet Singh, Ramesh Chandra, Puran Singh, Naresh Singh, Jagdev Singh, Sagar Singh, Pawan Singh, Mohinder Singh, Jalim Singh, Chait Singh, Pritam Singh, and Rakesh Kumar, all of whom stood in solidarity with the residents’ demands for urgent reform.
