Udhampur Imposes Traffic Restrictions on Multiple Key Roads Due to Heavy Rains and Landslides

Udhampur 26 August :- In response to severe inclement weather and heavy rainfall, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) of Udhampur, chaired by the Deputy Commissioner, has issued a critical traffic advisory effective from Tuesday, August 26, 2025. The adverse weather conditions have triggered landslides, mudslides, and flooding, leading to the blockage and damage of several vital roads across the district.

The restoration process is expected to be time-consuming, and traveling on these compromised routes currently poses a significant risk to public safety.Consequently, a strict ban on vehicular movement has been imposed on the following six major routes until further notice:

Rannagar-Udhampur Road, the Chenani-Patnitop Road, the Rannagar-Basantgarh Road, the Chenani-Sudhmahadev-Mantalai Road, the Sudhmahadev-Latti-Dudu-Shivgali Road, and the Panchari-Kainthgali-Moungri Road.

The restrictions will remain in force until the rainfall subsides, necessary restoration work is completed, and the situation is deemed normal. The order explicitly states that no traffic will be permitted on these stretches, with the exception of emergency vehicles, which may be granted movement after due consideration.

The administration is closely monitoring the situation and has urged the general public to strictly adhere to the advisory for their own safety. Citizens have been asked to cooperate with the authorities to avoid any potential inconvenience or danger.

For immediate assistance or further information, the public can reach out to the designated emergency contact numbers: the District Emergency Operation Center (DEOC) at 01992-272727/272728, the national Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) at 112, or the Police Control Room in Udhampur at 01992-276915.
