Udhampur, August 11, 2025 – The Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) Udhampur has commenced a comprehensive three-day training program on “Investigation of Murder & Homicide Cases”, aimed at enhancing the professional capabilities of J&K Police officers in handling complex homicide investigations.
A total of eighteen officers from various wings and units of the J&K Police are participating in this specialized course, which covers critical aspects such as crime scene examination, forensic evidence collection, FIR drafting, the significance of autopsies, and medico-legal intricacies related to deaths caused by burning, poisoning, and asphyxia.
Participants will also explore advanced topics including DNA evidence handling and forwarding, fingerprint analysis, and legal procedures specific to homicide cases. Eminent faculty from SKPA and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) J&K are delivering expert lectures to ensure that the course objectives are effectively achieved.
Rajinder Kumar Gupta, IPS, SSP and Dy. Director (Indoor), presided as the chief guest at the inaugural session. In his welcome address, he extended greetings to all participants on behalf of the Director of SKPA and provided a detailed introduction to homicide investigation, underscoring the need for thoroughness, accuracy, and meticulousness in investigative work.
The course is being coordinated by Chander Lekha, Sr.PO, with assistance from ASI Rajinder Singh, a member of the SKPA faculty.
