J&K Traffic Advisory: Major Highways Closed Due to Heavy Snow; Travelers Urged to Stay Put
SRINAGAR, Jan 28: Following the heavy snowfall that triggered avalanches across the region, the Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police has issued an emergency advisory regarding the closure of critical transport arteries.
As of 07:30 hrs today, the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) remains shut due to significant snow accumulation, with clearance operations currently in progress.
Authorities have strictly prohibited any vehicular movement from Jammu toward Srinagar and vice-versa until the road is fully restored and declared safe.In addition to NH-44, the Mughal Road, SSG Road, and Sinthan Road are also completely closed to traffic. The Traffic Police have advised the public to avoid traveling on these routes and to disregard any unverified rumors regarding road openings.
