Woman arrested with ganja in Katra faces third drug case

REASI, May 20, 2026: The Reasi Police recovered 58 grams of ganja from a woman during a routine checkpoint search at Varun Chowk in Katra. A police team from the Katra Police Station intercepted the suspect and discovered the contraband in her possession.

The accused has been identified as Sanjana, wife of Deepak, a resident of Amritsar who is currently living at Saraswati Chowk.

This arrest marks the third time she has been implicated in drug-related offenses this year. She was previously booked in two separate cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Katra Police Station, with offenses recorded in January and April.

Following this latest recovery, the police registered a third case against Sanjana under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Katra Police Station.

An investigation into the matter is currently underway. The Reasi Police reiterated their commitment to eliminating drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan initiative and urged the public to share any information regarding drug peddling to help create a drug-free society.
