Surat airport tests drone defense in multi agency security mock drill
SURAT, June 2, 2026— Surat International Airport successfully conducted a multi agency crisis management mock exercise simulating a sub conventional aerial threat involving a rogue drone.
The specialized security drill was carried out under the direct supervision of senior Central Industrial Security Force officers, alongside officials from various key aviation and local stakeholders, to test emergency response protocols against emerging aerial security challenges.
The coordinated exercise saw active participation from the Central Industrial Security Force, Airports Authority of India, Air Traffic Control, local police, Surat Municipal Corporation, and representatives from various commercial airlines.
The main objective of the operation was to evaluate and validate critical inter-agency coordination, communication response times, alert dissemination protocols, area domination measures, and overall operational preparedness.
The drill highlighted swift tactical responses and seamless coordination among all participating departments, reaffirming the collective readiness of the stakeholders to secure the aviation facility against unauthorized unmanned aerial vehicles.
Officials noted that the successful exercise reinforces the ongoing commitment of security forces and airport management to maintain a safe, secure, and resilient environment for commercial aviation operations.
