State Election Commissioner Shantmanu Visits Budgam to Monitor Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls
BUDGAM, APRIL 25: State Election Commissioner Shantmanu conducted an extensive tour of district Budgam today to oversee the ongoing Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls and ensure a transparent registration process.
During his visit, the Commissioner participated in special awareness camps at Sheikhpora and Razwen, where he personally monitored the registration of new voters and reviewed measures taken to prepare error-free and inclusive rolls.
He emphasized that the timely and accurate completion of this revision is essential for strengthening grassroots democracy, urging officials to prioritize the removal of duplications and the correction of existing discrepancies to maintain the integrity of the electoral process.
While interacting with first-time voters and local residents, the Commissioner highlighted the vital role of youth, women, and marginalized sections in the democratic framework, encouraging them to take a leading role in the electoral process.
In a subsequent high-level review meeting with Deputy Commissioner Athar Aamir Khan and other senior election officers, the State Election Commissioner evaluated the progress of voter verification drives and field-level coordination across the district’s constituencies.
He directed the administration to adopt a proactive approach through door-to-door verification and the effective use of digital platforms, ensuring that every eligible citizen is informed and included in the updated voter list.
