Rajouri Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma suspends licenses of medical stores during surprise inspection

RAJOURI, June 15: Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma conducted surprise inspections of multiple medical establishments in Rajouri town as part of a major crackdown on the misuse of habit-forming medicines and to enforce strict drug regulations. The inspections were carried out alongside Chief Medical Officer Manohar Lal Rana and the local Station House Officer.

During the operation, the team reviewed stock registers and sales documents to verify that the pharmacies were operating in compliance with prescribed licensing conditions and regulatory norms.Serious discrepancies were detected at Hopewell Medicos in Kheora and Star Medicos in Gujjar Mandi, where owners failed to maintain mandatory computerized billing records and showed irregularities in the sale of habit-forming formulations.

Taking immediate action under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act of 1940, the licensing authority suspended the retail drug sale licenses of both establishments pending further investigation. The administration emphasized that the distribution of restricted medicinal products must strictly follow the law to prevent substance abuse and protect public health.

Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma reiterated that the district administration maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward drug regulation violations. He warned that any medical establishment found engaging in the unauthorized sale of regulated medicines or violating license conditions will face severe legal consequences.

Chemists across the district have been instructed to secure proper transaction records and ensure complete transparency through digital systems, as surprise administrative checks will continue regularly to make Rajouri a drug-free district.
