Mela Kheer Bhawani Reflects Kashmiri Pandit Muslim Unity Says Mehbooba Mufti
SRINAGAR, June 22, 2026: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti highlighted the heartwarming display of communal harmony at the annual Mela Kheer Bhawani festival.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, Mufti emphasized that the genuine affection between Kashmiri Pandits and local Muslims successfully transcended the artificial divisions and walls of mistrust created by certain elements to serve their own political agendas. Urging the public to look past the conflicts of history, she called for a collective investment in a shared and peaceful future.
Mufti further pointed to the medical fraternity as a powerful bridge between communities, noting that countless patients seeking specialized healthcare outside the Valley are warmly treated by Kashmiri Pandit doctors. She specifically praised eminent medical professionals including Sushil Razdan, U. Koul, and Sameer Koul, who continue to directly serve patients within Kashmir, providing critical care to those unable to travel for treatment.
Commending their work as vital for both healing physical ailments and repairing historical emotional wounds, Mufti called on the younger generation of exiled doctors to draw inspiration from their example, reconnect with their roots, and regularly visit the region to rebuild communal bonds.
