Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena Reviews Progress of Developmental Projects in Kargil District
KARGIL, June 6, 2026 — Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the status of ongoing governance initiatives and major developmental projects across Kargil district. The high-level meeting was attended by Kargil Chief Executive Councillor Mohammad Jaffer Akhoon, the District Magistrate, and several other senior administrative officials.
During the session, department heads presented a detailed progress report mapping out the implementation of specific operational directives issued by the Lieutenant Governor during his previous administrative visit to the district in April.The evaluation revealed that a significant majority of the infrastructure and public welfare projects are progressing swiftly and are currently nearing completion.
Reviewing the overall urban landscape, the Lieutenant Governor noted substantial progress in the aesthetic upgrade and structural makeover of Kargil town. He also specifically evaluated departmental performance in core public sectors, inquiring about the timeline and execution of works related to road connectivity, regional healthcare services, school education, sanitation systems, and local livelihood creation opportunities.
Expressing satisfaction with both the accelerated pace and the quality of the engineering works underway, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized that these initiatives reflect a collective administrative resolve to fortify regional civic infrastructure. He directed all departmental officers and execution agencies to maintain this momentum and ensure that all remaining works are concluded in a strict, time-bound manner to successfully elevate the overall quality of life for the residents of Kargil.
