LG Ladakh Vinai Kumar Saxena Launches Traditional Attire Uniform and Standardized Logos for Tourist Taxis

LEH, APRIL 17: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Vinai Kumar Saxena announced the launch of a new cultural initiative today by introducing traditional Ladakhi attire as the official uniform for all commercial taxi drivers in the region.

In a statement shared on X, the Lieutenant Governor explained that the move is designed to showcase the rich heritage and traditions of Ladakh to the world. Since drivers are often the first point of contact for travelers, this initiative allows them to serve as cultural ambassadors, projecting local pride while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and discipline within the tourism transport sector.

In addition to the new uniforms, the Lieutenant Governor flagged off vehicles featuring a standardized logo-based sticker system for all registered tourist transport. This new identification method is intended to create a distinct brand for the region, allowing visitors to easily recognize authorized vehicles.

The administration expects this step to significantly enhance safety, transparency, and reliability for tourists navigating the high-altitude destination.

These combined measures aim to strengthen Ladakh’s global position as a unique travel destination while ensuring that every visitor enjoys a safe and culturally immersive experience.
