Ladakh DA Hike: 5% Dearness Allowance Increase Approved for 6th Pay Commission Employees

LEH, LADAKH MAY 29,2026 — LG Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena has approved a 5% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees who continue to draw their salaries under the 6th Central Pay Commission (CPC). According to an official order issued by the Finance Department, the DA payable to these employees has been enhanced from the existing 257% to 262% of their basic pay. This revised rate will take effect retrospectively from January 1, 2026.

The significant enhancement in DA is expected to provide much-needed financial relief to both employees and pensioners, particularly given the high cost of living in Ladakh driven by its geographical remoteness and harsh climatic conditions. Aimed at maintaining parity with periodic central government revisions, this decision was taken in pursuance of the Office Memorandum issued by the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, dated June 22, 2026.
