Ladakh Apricot Exports Set for Massive Growth via Lulu International Partnership

LEH, April 16, 2026:- Ladakh is poised for a significant breakthrough in the international agricultural market as the Union Territory administration scales up its apricot exports for the upcoming harvest season.

Under a new Memorandum of Understanding signed between the UT Administration and the global retail conglomerate Lulu International, approximately 1,000 metric tonnes of Ladakhi apricots are slated for export to global markets.

This represents a monumental increase from the previous two years, where exports totaled only 1,500 kilograms. Facilitated through the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), the agreement ensures that the unique fruit is professionally procured, processed, and packaged to maintain Ladakh’s distinct brand identity on the world stage.

This initiative is expected to transform the regional horticulture sector by drastically reducing post-production losses and securing premium pricing for local growers. By streamlining the supply chain and providing direct access to international retail networks, the partnership aims to strengthen the local economy and position Ladakh’s agricultural heritage as a high-value global commodity.

Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena highlighted the move as a quantum leap for the region, emphasizing that the strategic collaboration will provide long-term stability and growth for Ladakhi farmers while showcasing the territory’s unique produce to a worldwide audience.
