J&K Education Reforms: Minister Sakeena Itoo Mandates Infrastructure Upgrades for Private B.Ed Colleges

SRINAGAR JUNE 12.2026— Minister for School Education Sakeena Itoo has directed the operators of private B.Ed colleges across Jammu and Kashmir to streamline their infrastructure and establish quality, student-centric facilities to ensure high-standard teacher education.

Chairing a crucial meeting at the Civil Secretariat with representatives of the Private B.Ed College Association of Jammu and Kashmir—which was also attended by top officials from the School and Higher Education Departments—the Minister issued a strict directive ordering college managements to submit undertakings promising to rectify all identified shortcomings, including land-related deficiencies, within less than two years. Emphasizing that no further relaxations will be granted beyond this strict timeframe, Minister Itoo underscored that compliance with prescribed norms is non-negotiable for nurturing competent future educators.

While association representatives expressed their gratitude to the Minister for actively advocating with the Union Government to resolve early admission issues, the administration reiterated its long-term commitment to building a robust, transparent education system, assuring the delegation that all genuine grievances would be examined sympathetically and addressed on a priority basis.
