DRDO test fires advanced missile systems to boost air and naval defence
NEW DELHI, June 13, 2026:- The Defence Research and Development Organisation successfully demonstrated multiple crucial technologies aimed at bolstering India’s defence capabilities against various enemy threats.
A series of three consecutive flight tests were conducted on June 10 and 11, 2026, showcasing a multi-layered defence system against long-range ballistic missiles as well as an advanced anti-ship capability at medium range.During the trials, the multi-layered Ballistic Missile Defence capability was successfully validated as the interceptors precisely engaged their respective targets.
These systems incorporate the latest technologies specifically designed to address emerging missile threats. The successful tests place the country into an elite group of nations possessing the advanced technology required to intercept and engage intercontinental ballistic missiles.
The evaluation also included the maiden flight test of the Naval Anti-Ship Missile-Medium Range, which was completed successfully. Senior officials from the defence forces and the research organisation witnessed the launches.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the team on the milestone, while Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO, monitored the trials and praised the collaborative efforts of the scientists and industry partners.
